Canvas Admin Meeting

CSS code has been written to remove certain Global Navigation menu items, such as Grades, Assignments, and Calendar.  Although not implemented, the purpose of removing the menus is to simplify the Canvas interface and reduce redundancy of navigation.  John P and I will informally poll our courses tomorrow to determine which menu items should be kept, and which could be removed.

Canvas branding files have been removed from the pre-adoption server to a more secure and stable server.

Student incompletes can be handled by creating a new course section (labeled Incomplete), and placing the individual student into them section.  Section dates can be set be young the course and term dates, which will allow the student access to course content beyond these dates.

Conference Room Upgrade

Met with Sonja and Craig to discuss tech upgrades to the A/S Conference room.  Sonja teaches a course in the room, and has requested (and was approved for) Capital Funds to (1) acquire a large display and wireless display system and (2) a small set of classroom iPads.  We agreed to purchase a 70+ inch HD TV (room is too bright with natural light for projector), and an Apple TV device for connectivity.  Once installed, a variety of devices will be tested for display connectivity, ease of use, and latency.  After testing, a device will be selected and a small set (maybe a dozen?) will be ordered.  The devices will remain in the conference room, secured in a charging station cabinet.
